How we support partnership
Our mission is to ensure everyone feels supported, from receiving diagnosis to getting timely support in place. We know over 90% of children with hearing loss are born or later diagnosed into hearing families.
By giving newly diagnosed individuals and families support early to build knowledge and skills we can make a difference. Timely, informed decision making can positively impact young children and adults of their ability to reach their goals and or maintain social participation. It can also impact on development and cognitive decline.
Community partners and stakeholders can make a difference by also being supported with information and opportunities to build awareness and skills provide accessible events and inclusive spaces,
We all have a role to play, and we are committed to providing a niche service to embrace the human right of communication and empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
Five levels of Services
We aim to empower you by listening and increasing your knowledge through sharing information and providing well considered options. We’re here to support you break down the barriers and capacity build your skills to navigate, manage and maintain your support needs. Our services are independent, however collaborative as we believe the best outcomes evolve by nurturing relationships and building robust support systems.
Our five levels of support include:
Support Connection / Support Coordination
- Build your knowledge and ability to connect with informal, funded supports and community services.
- Build your confidence and skills to use and coordinate your supports, work with you to ensure a mix of supports are used to increase your capacity to maintain relationships,manage service delivery tasks, live more independently and be included in community.
Perfect for newly diagnosed families including change of cicumstances.
Assistive Technology Advice
- Our services are available online or onsite, we are accessible no matter where you live.
- We will get to know you and ensure we understand your needs by diligently reviewing information and or referring you for further assessment.
- Afterwards, we’ll provide independent written advice and guidance via email or letter summarising our suggested AT solutions.
- We work collaboratively so we connect, liaise with therapist,medical practitioners and facilitators when necessary to ensure everyone is considered.
Suitable for anyone requiring to build knowledge of AT features and options including, compatability and connectivity solutions.
AT implementation and user training
- One of the many reasons people abandon their assistive technology is a lack of user training.
- Access Through Action provides extensive personalised training on properly using assistive technology to prevent abandonment.
- Training involves either one-on-one, group sessions or online tutorials.
- Your AT Mentor offers ongoing support and feedback to help you get the most out of your assistive technology.
Beneficial for anyone who needs support and guidance in using their assistive technology.

Therapeutic support
- As your Access Through Action mentor, we work with you or your carer to improve your ability to control technology and the environment.
- The overall aim is to capacity build your self-support skills and independence.
- Plus, we teach you, your family or your carer how to troubleshoot AT technology or gauge compliance.
- In each support session, we ensure direct sound connectivity (split sound) and communication accessibility features are enabled so you and your child remain in control.
Handy for individuals, schools, employers and stakeholders who need further support, advice or advocacy representation.
